Well, it was almost alfresco but with the set of the sun so went the temperature therefore we moved the beautiful tablescape indoors. (Check out the hostesses website, placetile.com for creative table top ideas.) However, prior to dinner, it was a perfect Carolina evening for being outside, catching-up with close friends, sharing great vino and delectable appetizers while the sun set behind the mountains. Our sunsets are beautiful and are always a topic for discussion as each are different and the colors are amazing. The big thrill was when the “host” introduced his new techno-gadget that shot a laser 14 miles into the night sky and appeared to touch “Saturn” and other heavenly bodies.
This was my fifth winter living here full-time and seemed to be the longest and coldest so we are all excited Spring has sprung and anxious to get back outside. We may have pushed it just a little but the very thought that alfresco dining was a possibility was almost exciting enough. While living in Atlanta, it was always what restaurant are we going to though in the mountains, it’s whose turn is it to host the evening. I have grown to love dining at home because the evening can proceed for hours, we all love great food and wine and the view is always breathtaking. It is just a different mindset in the mountains.
The great part is that if we want fine dining it is available as our friends had just dined out Friday night at Madison’s in Highlands, celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary. This evening though was in celebration of Bill’s __th birthday and I am sure it was the perfect celebration for him.
