When the temperature drops, the Scaly Mountain Outdoor Center has snow whether mother nature cooperates or not – they make their own. People are coming from all over to ride the tubes and it must be fun because this place has been packed. What a draw for our little mountain community, which is located about 6 miles from Highlands, NC. When you need a tubing break, have a bite at The Lodge, BBQ and Trout House located at the bottom of the slopes. If you are lucky, Brad (the owner) will be singing and playing his guitar while you dine. FYI – brown bagging is welcome.
I’m embarrassed to say that we have not tried snow tubing out yet. Though we love living in the mountains, I’m not crazy about standing out in the elements. I’m sure it will not be long before my five year old hears about all the fun other kids are having just around the corner. I’m voting for her dad to take her.
